Are you a shutterbug looking to justify the purchase of a new
digital camera? Maybe you're a talented amateur photographer
and already have a large quantity of digital photos collecting
dust on your hard drive? Who ever you are, if you have an eye
for taking quality digital photos, you can turn them into cash.

Today, it has never been easier to make money from your photos
by submitting them to online stock photo companies. These
companies are looking for all types of photos, not just the one
in a million photo of lighting striking football goal post.

Stock photos are photographs that can be purchased online from
various web sites. Many of these stock photo web sites will
post quality photos from about anyone and if someone downloads
the photo, you get paid for it each time.

Designers, advertisers, marketers and others constantly search
for and buy single images from places online like Shutterstock,
Fotolia and Dreamstime. Photo buyers can pay a flat monthly
subscription for access to a certain number of stock pay per
image. Each time one of your photos is downloaded, you make
money!

To be perfectly honest, you won't have a real good chance at
selling that picture of Aunt Edna with her poodle taken with
your Polaroid camera in 1984; these companies are looking for
sellable pictures.

However, you don't have to be Ansel Adams to take clean, crisp
photos with good lighting and composition. There are some
fantastic photos out there from people who don't think of
themselves as photographers nor have thousand-dollar equipment.

Here are a couple tips to keep in mind if you feel like giving
it a shot.

Only submit your best photos-this will give you a better
chance of getting your photos accepted and posted.
Make sure you have permission if a person is recognizable or
product is shown in the photo.
Photos must be 4.0MP or larger, without manipulation.
Digital submission only.
Don't send multiple pictures of the same subject at different
angles.
Categorize and describe/tag the photos correctly so they can
be easily found and purchased.

Take a couple minutes to go through those photos on your
computer to see if there are some gems worth submitting.
